About Kim Peterson

Kim is a passionate ambassador for Working Equitation and has introduced people all over the world to the sport. She has competed high levels, trained champion riders and horses, and is actively engaged in developing the sport, ensuring that it combines continuous learning with respect for the horses and the people involved. As one of the founding members of WEDU she is currently the Head Judge and Judge Educator for Australia . Kim is a licensed judge with ANWEL, WEDU and WE UNITED. 

Clinic Descriptions

The clinics will each be 75 minutes in length and include up to Five(5) clinic riders in each session.

Important Information

  • Horses must arrive at least an hour and a half before the scheduled clinic time.
  • Selected participants will be notified no later than the end of the day, March 20th, 2020.
  • Once accepted, you will be given a limited amount of time to confirm your participation and pay the fees. Additional forms and information will be sent via email by the end of the day March 30th, 2020.
  • The clinics at The Mane Event offer a unique and invaluable opportunity to “Ride with our Clinicians.” Please be aware that the clinics are conducted in large arenas where there are likely to be large crowds in attendance. Opportunities to warm up in the actual arena may not be available. 
  • In the unlikely event that a clinician is unable to conduct their clinics as scheduled because of an unavoidable event (such as illness, accident, flight cancellation, death in family, etc), The Mane Event will make every effort to retain another clinician of similar caliber to conduct clinics on the same topics as scheduled.

Clinic Sessions

Working Equitation - Dressage

Working Equitation was born in Europe and developed to prepare horses for work in the field. The sport tests the horse and rider's partnership and ability to maneuver obstacles. This clinic will introduce riders to the sport of Working Equitation. Giving the riders the tools required to ride the dressage phase and ease of handling each phase.

Rider Requirements

Beginner to Advanced riders are welcome. Must be able to competently walk, trot and lope/canter. Any breed is welcome. Rider/Horses must have had exposure to obstacles. Riders must be available for all three sessions throughout the three days of the expo.

Equipment Requirements

Saddle, Bridle, Helmets are highly recommended however are required for any youth participating in the clinic.

Working Equitation - Obstacles

Working Equitation was born in Europe and developed to prepare horses for work in the field. Equitation is defined as the 'art of horse riding or horsemanship' and it plays an integral role in obstacle work.

Rider Requirements

Beginner to Advanced riders are welcome. Must be able to competently walk, trot and lope/canter. Any breed is welcome. Rider/Horses must have had exposure to obstacles. Riders must be available for all three sessions throughout the three days of the expo.

Adding Speed To Obstacles

Working Equitation was born in Europe and developed to prepare horses for work in the field. The sport tests the horse and rider's partnership and ability to maneuver obstacles. Learn how to build speed while maintaining control and confidence. Adding speed can mean an extended trot or gallop, but horses must be ready for the progression.

Rider Requirements

Beginner to Advanced riders are welcome. Must be able to competently walk, trot and lope/canter. Any breed is welcome. Rider/Horses must have had exposure to obstacles. Riders must be available for all three sessions throughout the three days of the expo.
