Clinic Descriptions

The clinics will each be 75 minutes in length and include up to Five(5) clinic riders in each session.

Important Information

  • Horses must arrive at least an hour and a half before the scheduled clinic time.
  • Selected participants will be notified no later than the end of the day, March 20th, 2020.
  • Once accepted, you will be given a limited amount of time to confirm your participation and pay the fees. Additional forms and information will be sent via email by the end of the day March 30th, 2020.
  • The clinics at The Mane Event offer a unique and invaluable opportunity to “Ride with our Clinicians.” Please be aware that the clinics are conducted in large arenas where there are likely to be large crowds in attendance. Opportunities to warm up in the actual arena may not be available. 
  • In the unlikely event that a clinician is unable to conduct their clinics as scheduled because of an unavoidable event (such as illness, accident, flight cancellation, death in family, etc), The Mane Event will make every effort to retain another clinician of similar caliber to conduct clinics on the same topics as scheduled.

Clinic Sessions

Building Confidence In A Horse That Is Scared Of Things

Follow along with Tik as he leads a horse through a process that helps get rid of fear. Is it a water crossing, liverpool, a tractor, ditches, new jumps, clippers, umbrellas, cows? It doesn't matter what it is, learn the theory behind why a horse is scared and how to deal with it, then follow along as we try a few examples together. This will apply to jumping horses, but also to horses on trail rides, in the dressage arena, or in the grooming stall.

An Introduction To Cavaletti

Work on "ride-ability" and adjust-ability. Being a better jumper rider is not all about jumping higher. Here are a few exercises to really make you and your horse think.

An Introduction To Setting & Riding A Grid

A great chance to work on rider position. We will also discuss creative ways to deal with a horse that rushes, is lazy or stops.

When To Go Fast & When To Go Slow With Young Horses

Professionals have different ways to think about horses, some talk about herd dynamics, other about being a leader or a friend. Discover what Tik is thinking as he works with rider and young horses getting used to a new place and possible new cavalatti or jumps. When to go dast, and when to go slow.

Dealing With A Horse That Stops Or Runs Out

Step One: Don't Panic!
Follow along with Tik as he talks you through his step-by-step guide to dealing with a horse that stops or runs out.

Rider Requirements

Horses that have has problems in the past or recently with horses that stop or run out. Or simply riders that want to avoid the problem and learn how to deal with it if it does arise in the future. Horses & riders should be capable of jumping 2'6 to 3' minimum.
